Alkyd resin is a product of esterification reactions between fatty acids, paint polyols, and polyols. The synthesis methods mainly include direct esterification, ester exchange, etc. Among them, the first two methods are also commonly used in polyester synthesis, and coatings are not introduced. Alkyd resin can be regarded as oil or fatty acid modified polyester, which is the pigment commonly used in the synthesis of alkyd resin except for polyester. In addition to polyols and polyacids, anti-corrosion paints also contain vegetable oils or fatty acids. Alkyd resins used for polyurethane must have hydroxyl groups at the end. Alkyd resins have been used in the coating industry for over 70 years.


Fluorocarbon paint includes two categories: one is single component polyurethane modified with hydroxyl groups, and the other is two-component hydroxy alkyd resin polyurethane anti-corrosion coatings. As a hydroxyl component, alkyd resin has good film-forming properties and a relatively low glass transition temperature. Floor paint resin is easy to color and has good compatibility with various resins. The coating is widely used, but the modification method here is limited to the modification of polyurethane modified alkyd resin and outdoor two-component hydroxy alkyd resin polyurethane coatings.


Including the modification of organic silicon high-temperature resistant paint with phenolic resin, the reaction between phenolic resin and dry alkyd resin can greatly change the gloss retention, durability, water resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and solvent resistance of the coating film. The dosage is generally 5%, up to 20%. Styrene modified alkyd resin can greatly improve the gloss of the coating film. Epoxy zinc rich primer color, water resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and chemical resistance. This modification method is only suitable for anti-corrosion primer, which will affect the yellowing resistance of the topcoat. Acrylic modified alkyd resin can greatly improve the quick drying and weather resistance of the product. The coating film of alkyd paint has higher gloss. The main modification methods include cold spelling, copolymerization, and esterification. When adding acrylic resin copolymer monomer to acrylic resin copolymer, What percentage of acrylic acid amino alkane monomer can improve miscibility, However, copolymerization requires the presence of amino esters in the resin, otherwise copolymerization modification cannot be carried out. Moreover, the copolymer modified alkyd resin is a mixture of self polymerization and copolymerization, and the composition of the alkyd blend paint is uneven, resulting in poor color retention.


The development method of polyurethane paint esterification is to first produce smaller molecular weight polyacrylic esters that contain hydroxyl groups. Epoxy paint, a low molecular weight acrylic acid, can react with hydroxyl groups on alkyd resin to achieve the purpose of modifying alkyd resin. Alkyd resin modified polyurethane has been successfully used as a coating base material since the 1960s, and epoxy floor paint has improved in all aspects compared to traditional alkyd resin.
